    i used this software to convert a movie but because its trialware,i get a banner up on the screen every 2 minutes or so,is there any freeware thats as good as vso?

    you can use the ooold free divxtodvd, http://fastdownload.softonic.de/ourfiles_de/windows/vsoDivxToDVD_setup_0.52.99.exe

    or avi2dvd,diko,thefilmmachine but they are not as simple as divxtodvd.

    or click on Tools in the menu here to the left and click All-In-One DVD Converters and order by type to get freeeee tools.

    im using the old xvid to dvd version but it dosent have any burn sofware incoporated.Can i use any burn software i.e power director,sonic,or nero?or will i have to use specific sofware related to the xvid converter.

    Any burning software capable of burning DVD Video can do it. Nero, using the DVD Video template is fine (not Nerovision or any other bits of Nero)

    Thanks all,managed to encode the film using the old xvid to dvd converter,then burned using dvd shrink.The picture is very good but the film is freezing or skipping quite often?

    DVDShrink uses DVDDecrypter, Nero or CopyToDVD to burn, so I don't know why you would've even gone near it for this job, except for maybe creating an ISO Image to burn with DVDDecrypter, but when there's Folder2ISO and/or IMGTools Classic, there's still no need !

    Freezing and skipping is generally a bad burn and/or bad media. However there's also a slight chance it may have been the conversion process also.

    i used dvd shrink so i could fit the film on disk,as it compresses the file.
