I had a Sony DVP-NC675P. It was fine for playing copied DVDs, but if I converted some AVIs to dvd (I use DivxToDVD) I would encounter playing problems. Sometimes the disc would play fine, but others, I would get an error message that would say "cannot". It's a crapshoot if a disc will play or not.

Can anyone recommend a dvd player (changer if possible, up to around $150) that has no problems playing dvd-r's that have converted avi's? Preferably a model that either Best Buy or Circuit City has since they are very close to my house.

    Thanks.

  2. Try a Lite-On DVD Recorder. They play recorded DVD's great, and fall in that price range. Only drawback is no zoom.

Chances are the problem is not your SONY DVD player but rather is probably a problem with the way the DVD Video disc is being created.

I would look at the type of media you are using and the way you are creating it ... specifically the way you are burning it.

Most likely those are the problems.

The discs that do not work on your SONY DVD player ... do they work correctly when playing back on the computer? If so that supports what I am saying.
