    So which one is it??

THE NEXT GENERATION is my favorite hands down. Its got the best mix of characters and the show jumped into warp speed starting in the third season.

VOYAGER is a close second with DS9 and THE ORIGINAL SERIES rounding out the list. ENTERPRISE doesn't even show up on my sensor grid

Since you made me choose I selected TOS, (takes me back to childhood), but I like all of the versions, including Enterprise.

I miss not having a Star Trek series on.

TOS appeals to my heart, TNG appeals to my head. some episodes of Enterprise were okay. DS9 & VOY were less enjoyable.

DS9 and Voyager both grew on me. The first three or four years of each of them were rough treading. Though when DS9 got WORF and when VOYAGER got Seven Of Nine both DRAMATICALLY IMPROVED

It's a hard call for me between DS9 and TNG, but TNG just edges out DS9 because it ran longer and just had so many memorable moments. Episodes of DS9 seem more like a long-running TV movie than individual episodes. I just thought the idea of being stationary was really unique and very difficult to write for since the action had to come to the station rather than a ship stumbling across it. I never did like Voyager and Enterprise much, but the original series is still classic.

If there were a cage fight between all the captains of the series I'm sure Avery Brooks would win hands down. That guy is awesome.

I voted TNG, but I like them all with the exception of DS9 -- that show sucked.... It was just a sci-fi version of "Days of Our Lives"...

Nope. Both ran for seven seasons. You might be thinking of the TNG movies Generations and the rest. But TNG and DS9 both had full seven year runs as did VOYAGER.

I of course voted for The Original Series with Kirk and the gang but although I love that as well as the movies with the original cast I have never been a big fan of the other Star Trek shows except for Enterprise which I thought was pretty kick ass as the "attitude" of the show was closer to the original than any of the other shows.

Although I must say I did like that Doctor guy that was a halogram ... he was an interesting neat character. I seem to recall an episode where he played a key role in saving everyone that was rather unique. I think that was Voyager? I'm not even sure I probably never saw more than a dozen or so episodes of that show

I remember watching the original Star Trek on TV when it first came out and I still love watching it on reruns. But recently I've grown quite fond of TNG. Better more developed stories and the character mix is a little more interesting. I especially like Worf and any story dealing with the Klingons. DS9 was interesting for about the first season and a half then they lost their way and couldn't make up their mind. Voyager and Enterprise were completely useless to me. Both to me were silly takeoffs on the Star Trek theme.

Next Generation was my favorite, though I still can't forgive them for the horrible series finale, but I think Deep Space Nine was the best written, most involved storyline.

PS: Kirk and the Gang sounds like an old disco or funk group or something and I don't think we should encourage Shatner to sing. :P

?? Hmm... I don't know they seemed pretty consistent with the DOMINION WAR in the last few years of the show.

That was the BEST TREK FINALE EVER!!!! I still think that was one of the best performances they got out of the TNG crew and the last scene around the poker table was really touching.

While the war provided a constant backdrop to the final years of DS9, I found it inconsistent with what they were trying to do. Half the time I really didn't who the combatants were. The Cardassians, the Klingons, was it the bad Bajoran's. It seemed like you needed a scorecard just to keep up.

Enterprise was so bad that it killed the franscise. We'll probably never have another series thanks to that miserable series.

Balderdash. Enterprise was an excellent show, well written and well acted. The ratings weren't great, but shows with worse ratings have been kept. My understanding was that Enterprise was cancelled because the UPN executives decided it didn't fit in with the networks new "image".

???? There isn't a UPN anymore! I'm sure Enterprise didn't help it. Now there merging with the WB. What they needed to do was wait a few years after Voyager finished to brainstorm a new idea. Now it will take divine intervention to revive a once proud and strong franchise. We can only hope it still has a heartbeat

Some (Me) would say there isn't a UPN anymore because they cancelled Enterprise. UPN's "new image" began during Enterprises second season and by the end of the 3rd the execs wanted to cancel it then. Only a hard fought fight by the producers and a loud voice from the fans kept it on for the fourth. When the Execs agreed to the fourth season they made it clear that there would not be a fifth. And now look, less than 1 year after cancelling it and the network is tanked. The execs had their heads up their butts and failed Star Trek, not the other way around.

  21. I voted for Next Generation even though I also like the original series.

    Start Rant...
I can't believe you people voting for Enterprise. That series was pathetic, and shouldn't even have the Enterprise name. Even the opening "music" is pathetic. They took the dignified Star Trek and changed it into a Xena in space! Rick Berman and Brannon Braga can go to HELL as far as I am concerned. They butchered Star Trek with all the series that came after TNG! I don't even consider the movie Nemesis, a Star Trek movie. It was pathetic. Everything about it sucked, camera angles, the director, the Picard clone and Data clones, Picard driving a dune-buggy, etc. Did you know the new director Stuart Baird, didn't even know anything about Star Trek? I saw Nemesis when it opened in the theaters. Everyone just shook their heads when they were leaving the theater. I heard several people yell outloud that it sucked. They were right!

On a positive note....Jonathan Frakes(William T. Riker) was a great director in the motion pictures he directed! He knows what Star Trek should be about! He and several other TNG actors need to get together and take over the Star Trek franchise.

    End Rant

To each his own ... as I said before I liked ENTERPRISE second to the original. If any preceeding show captured the essence of the original it was ENTERPRISE.

TNG was a boring joke. DS9 was so bad as to be painfull. I cared so little at that point that I barely watched VOYAGER ... maybe it was good ... I really wouldn't know as I only ever saw maybe half a dozen episodes. Of those I found one interesting.

I decided to give ENTERPRISE a try and the "attitude" was dead on. No more lame ass Troy "oh I feel your feelings".

    Oh no.

Aliens had blasted Earth and we were going for blood in Captain ... excuse me ... Admiral Kirk style.

I think TNG was absolutely the best....loved the origional, but the orig really didnt blossom until the movies came out. tng really hit the nail on the head after the first season. As for Enterprise.....enterprise was for the serious start trek fan. one with a romantic out look and a desire to see the beginning. It was a fantasitc show until they started running a linear story. Trying to get ratings they changed the formula and started to loose steam just like ds9 and voy did....except voy led it self more towards a linear episode approach. Had enterprise stayed on its orig path it would have lasted much longer...maybe they'll make a movie...how funny that it ended with almost the same amount of episodes

How do you mean? It only lasted 4 seasons. TNG, DS9 and VOYAGER all had 7 seasons.

Do you mean it lasted longer than the Original Series (which only had 3 seasons)????

Yeah, UPN and WB are going to be one - now instead of 2 sucky networks, you get one really sucky network

I vote Enterprise, followed very closely by TNG, then Voyager, TOS and then DS9 - the first few season of DS9 were good, but it got way too political near the end.

The only show UPN had going for it was Enterprise. It was one of their highest rated shows (I know that's not saying much since it was UPN), yet they still canceled it! Granted, UPN's highest rated show still was nowhere near NBC's, CBS's, or even ABC's and Fox's ratings, but still.... It was a Star Trek show, so that right there guarantees that it will have an audience. It disgusts me that Enterprise gets canceled, while mindless drivel (I could name several shows that I think fall into that category) get renewed for yet another season of crap.

If UPN didn't play reruns of other shows I like (other shows that are still being played in first run on other networks), I woulnd't watch UPN even if you paid me.

TOS had 79 episodes and ran for 3 seasons. Enterprise had 98 episodes and ran for a total of 4 seasons.

That was a particular challenge that I thought they handled quite well. Faced with "How do you make technology look more advanced than what's in the real world today, but looks retro to the "future tech" designed in the 1960s?"
The answer was to use the best of todays tech but put it in the ship in a disjointed way. Keep the displays separated from the consoles, place things in slightly inconvenient locations, like an engineer who's never actually tried to fly a ship might. To be sure, some of it relied on the viewers ability to ignore the fact that much of the 1960s "future tech" is retro to our present day "real tech", but I think, given the challenge, they did an outstanding job.

  28. TNG was definitely (IMHO) the best series -- from season 3 onwards. In season 1 and 2, the producers were still trying to copy TOS, but from season 3 onwards, TNG had its own style. Personally, I thought that the series finale (All Good Things) was fantastic.

    TOS would be second.

VOY actually gets better (about the time when 7 of 9 comes on) but the main characters suck. Janeway, Chakotay, Kim, Paris, Torres, Tuvok and Neelix were all boring characters who couldn't act. I quite liked the episodes that focussed on the Doctor and Seven but they were not the majority. The series also ended in a very disappointing way.

    I just couldn't get into DS9.

Enterprise should be erased from Star Trek history.

I'm pretty sure that TNG had the most number of episodes. Although both DS9 and VOY also had seven seasons, some of those seasons were "short".

    Regards.

I like the series, but I liked TNG most of all. TOS was just too campy for me to get into. Voyager was ok, then good after seven of nine was added (Jeri Ryan was just the TA that was needed). Enterprise was good, but was killed way too early. I never really got into DS9 but when they got into visitors from parallel universes then I figured the writers where smoking crack full time.
