I have looked all over and can not find out this information. My wife has tried 3 or 4 DVD Players in her sewing room. She has CD's and/or DVD's with MP3's on them. Of course there are MANY mp3's on a cd. The problem is that after a few hours, she will turn everything off. In a few days, she turns it on and finds that it starts at the first mp3 again. She keeps hearing the first hour or so over and over!

Are there any DVD players that will remember where she left off, with mp3's, as they do with Movies...even if she removes the CD/DVD? Or, if she does not remove the cd/dvd.

Also, are there any that have a good enough display so that she does not need to turn on the TV to select a directory?

If this can't be done with a DVD player, is there a CD player, that can play mp3's, that can do this? She has a RIO, and it works, but does not like using the portable for this.

    Thank you.

  2. You may also want to search for a player that has a shuffle play feature. This is a fairly common feature, but most only shuffle within folders. My CyberHome CH-DVR 1600 [MU version] does this. You can solve this limitation by burning the files to one big folder. It will also play DVD-MP3 discs as well as CDR's

Very few players will shuffle play across folders. I have a Daewoo DVD-5700 that does this. It is to my knowledge the ONLY player capable of shuffle play across folders. Unfortunately, it does not play DVD-MP3 discs. Both players need a tv to display the directory information.

I don't understand why this feature is so rare in dvd players. My Ford factory player does it no problem.

Thank you. Perhaps another way to go is to look for these features on a CD player that will play MP3's. At least with a CD player they do not assume that you have a TV connected.

Also, I believe that without folders, there is a limit as to what can be in 1 directory. I had told my wife to avoid shuffle play as I thought that put a lot of wear on the player.

I bought a Sony CD Walkman D-NE320 from Walmart for $50 that will do a lot of what you want. For MP3s, it has quite a few options. You can shuffle play within a folder or across all folders. What's nice about the shuffle play, is that it "remembers" the tracks that you have played, so that it will eventually play all of the tracks within or across folders before repeating selections. According to the instructions, it has such a memory capability of 5 discs. You can also create playlists that you burn onto your CDR. All-in-all, it has a of capabilities that simply don't exist in DVD players that will also play MP3s.

Thank you...I will look into the Sony. As I said, she does have the RIO, but this may even be better!
