I've been trying a number of different tools to Author a DVD from DVB mpeg files recorded from my DVB-S card. My latest attempt with Rejig had me both excited and frustrated.

Rejig appear to have all the capabilities I was looking for: Demuxing my DVB files and then Authoring using the Rejig authoring function. Everything seemed to work great - even was able to sych up audio using the ms delay feature in the authoring tools. And Picture quality looked great on the VOB files.

BUT....on each file I tried this with, I completely lose audio aprox 35 minutes into the Authored VOB files. The Demuxed PVA audio file appear to be just fine - no loss of audio in that PVA file at the 35 minute point - only when I go to author to VOB files does the loss happen. And I tried this with multiple DVB files to make sure it wasn't just a one time thing.

I'm fairly certain that something causes the audio to come out of sync at that 35 minute point. I've tried using PVAstrumento in an attempt to fix the DVB file prior to demuxing - but that doesn't seem to be working (more likely I'm not doing it right).

Can someone tell me if I'm on the right track here? Do I need to fix/demux with PVAstrumento before I do the Rejig Demux?? Or is there some other step I'm missing (for example: do I need to be doing something with DVDpatcher to change the DVB recording header files?)

I was not able to find a guide on Rejig that really addressed what I'm trying to do.

    any advice is appreciated.

(if anyone has had good luck with other freeware, trialware, payware program that is an easy one-step process to burn DVB recordings to a DVD compliant VOB - I'm ready to hear about it!)

  2. Try demuxing with projectx or pvastrumento. These programs are specifically designed to deal with dvb-s streams.

thanks. I have Tried PVAstrumento, but I can't seem to get it to work right. The files it creates after demux are not right (too small).

that's why I was so hopeful when I tried to use Rejig - the files all 'seemed' perfect - but only for 35 minutes into things.

Project X is a bit overwhelming looking - but I suppose I can try it out as well.

Really not bad at all, and what's there to screw up if you feed it a copy? I mean if *I* can use it....

well I guess I'm not as smart as you.
I never could get ProjectX to work for me.

I could never figure out how to stop it from trying to compress my recording. Even though I'd swear I tell it to do it at 100% - it always was compressing my file - which is not what I want.

same thing with PVAstramento and Staxrip - can not get either to do a 100% file, both seem to always want to compress...

oh, if only rejig worked like I want it to. It is prefect (except for that loss of a/v synch on anything over 30 minutes long....) darn it.

How about DGIndex to demux, & muxman to author?

Projectx cannot 'compress' streams. There is no encoder included. If you are interested in solving the problem, post the complete log file (as zip attachement) and I will have a look. If the problem is not solvable for me, we can still ask dvb.matt (the author of projectx) for help.
