    Here's my workflow...

    1. Record the transport stream with FusionHDTV3 and its software. Fine and dandy, in perfect sync.

    2. Edit commercials and convert the .tp into .mpg with VideoReDo, still in sync.

    3. Convert to XviD with AutoGK. Result is in sync at the beginning of the file, but drifts more and more out of sync as the file continues to play (audio plays before video).

    Any thoughts why? Thanks!

Got an answer to this problem from the doom9 forums. Apparently the versions of Vdubmod, XviD codec, and lame encoder that come bundled with even the newest version 2.26 of AutoGK are old and should be replaced with current versions.

    Whole post here:

    http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=dab0a63047a1fd628c603897f2ba814d&t=105188

I've installed those newer versions and am reencoding a file that gave me sync problems before. I'll post the results for anyone who's interested (and even for those who aren't ).....

EDIT/UPDATE: Nope, updating XviD, VdubMod, and Lame didn't help. That same file is still out of sync after using AutoGK (perfect sync before).

    Any suggestions?

Are you certain the entire AC3 stream is 3/2 ? You can tell PVAstrumento to split the mpeg file on audio format changes; if it cuts your file, there's a decent chance the culprits are at the cut points.

Have you tried demuxing the transport stream with ProjectX or PVAStrumento and then edit out the commersials with MPEG2Schnitt or Cuttermaran?

I always fix my DVB captures with ProjectX or PVAStrumento before doing any editing or conversion and it seems to work mostly. ProjectX is sometimes better to keeping the audio in sync but PVAStrumento have a nice feature to cut at format changes (like when 4:3 and 16:9 flag changes).
