I record stuff to my computer from my wondeful Dreambox. The file i get is a VOB file.

    I tried to:

    1. Just burn the VOB file straight in Toast, but it starts to encode the file?

    2. Create a VIDEO_TS with AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS--> MY_MOVIE.VOB (don't work)

    3. USE ffmpeg tools to create a VIDEO_TS file, but ffmpeg creates a MY_MOVIE.ts file??

Need some help guys. I want the movies to play on most players including PS2 and such.

    Thank

Ps. The more easy and no conversion taking days is apprechiated. DS.

    2. There is a bit more involved in DVD authoring, heh.
    3. Using ffmpegX > Tools > Author on a renamed MY_MOVIE.mpg should work, if this Dreambox produces files within DVD specs.

Gosh, I thought a VOB was a VOB

So convert the VOB to mpg is the trick then. Can I also choose to split the mpg file or make chapters to cut up the movie a little?

I know sizzle use to do this, but lately I understand sizzle have some problems?

It's nice to make a DVD with some futures more then play/stop

Making it mpg worked fine. At the process it first made a m2v and ac3 file. Can I use this 2 to make a fast VIDEO_TS with a VOB file later in ffmpeg?

As taking the mpg and convert again to VOB for VIDEO_TS will take another 24 hours

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate discussion, so if it's not, let me know, and I'll start a new thread.
I started a new topic for this:

I believe I'm trying to do something similar, but all of these articles and tutorials are way over my head ... I'm still struggling to wrap my brain around all of the "format" stuff.

Here's the situation ..... I have recorded some old TV shows to DVD-R (for personal use, thank you) using a simple DVD recorder. The recorder inserts chapter marks every few minutes or so. I want to create my own chapters and then reburn the DVD so it's viewable on a standard DVD player.

Thanks in advance ..... and let me know if I need to start a new "topic".

Yes, this should be a new topic where we can discuss CaptyDVD 2.

There is the question of whether the MPEG meets the video DVD spec. Click the What is DVD link at the top left of this forum for a description of the spec, then check that your MPEG meets this.

By the way, I gather you have Toast 6 and not Toast 7, right?

this would be my way to do it

    1. rip the DVD using DVDdecripter, but use the IFO option to demux the VOB files, this action will end with a .m2v and .ac3 files

    2. use Adobe premier pro or an editor capable of MPEG2 editing, NOTE Adobe needs a plug in for this I use Mainconcept MPEG2 Pro and it is great, edit your secuence and from here you have 2 options

    a) use premier pro to directly create chapter points and burn from there

    b) use an authoring tool like adobe encore DVD 1.0 to burn it with a menu and others nice features

    hope I help
