I currently have a Canon XL2 on the way from a vendor and since the camera has not come yet, I have two questions that I really need to get answered if possible.

First, is the stock mounted microphone attached with some kind of cord that plugs into an input on the camera, or is the cord hardwired to the camera?

Second, if I use the stock microphone and then the non-XLR microphone input, will they both record to two seperate audio tracks like it would if I used the two XLR inputs? Thanks for any help

The mic is hardwired - it's an integral part of the unit.

No, by having an input through the microphone jack on the side, the in-built mic is deactivated.

I have an XM2 - the PAL version of the GL2. It's awesome, you'll love it. But take time to read the manual and get to grips with its manual functions.
