I am trying to backup copies of 8 mm home movies transfered to DVD using a Panasonic ES20 recorder. For some reason the ES20 writes in such a way that the file structure is not visible which makes it impossible to simply copy in Nero or read using TMPG DVD Author.

I finally was able to use DVD Shrink to successfully copy the DVD. Since the source file was able to fit on a single layer DVD, the copy was done at 100% quality (no compression, I assume).

My question is this - is there any loss of quality when no compression is used in DVD Shrink to make a copy?

i.e. Is this a bit-for-bit copy of the original?

Some say that DVDShrink even with no compression is not as good as ripping(copying) with DVDDecrypter or DVDFab Decrypter. If this is true I doubt it would be visable to the naked eye.

If a DVD is ran through DVD Shrink with no compression, then there is simply no compression. The DVD will be identical in quality to the original. You only lose quality if you compress, re-encode etc...
