Hi,
I am new here. I need some advices on burning dvd & dowloading movie...
I have a Kosch dv-x721 dvd player( with divX), and DVD writer. I would like to download some movies from internet and burn to disk so I can play it using my kosch dvd palyer.
My questions are:
1) what kind of program is better to use for downloading ( BT, Emule...)considering the quanlity, file size and time
2) what kind of file format is better to choose. I saw there are lots of them out there ( avi, rmvb, mpeg, DivX, XviD..) -- I looking for something I can download it and then burn to DVD ( perhaps a few movies goes into one DVD
Thanks in advance

yeah, this is probably gonna get locked up & yellow carded.
now, assuming you're downloading non-copyrighted public domain movies, i would suggest going to archive.org.. pretty much then all you need to do is burn them to a cd-r or dvd-r (nero will work) and then pop it in your dvd player.. -

I have DLed some great dvd ISO's through bit torrent (yes legal!!)
And for things i have DLed, usually mpeg for at least vcd or svcd, but i'm really picky about quality and buy anything i want on dvd!! 8) -

Not only is this sort of thing insulting to people's intelligence, it puts this site in jeopardy. With the MPAA on the warpath and the RIAA in full Nazi mode, discussions regarding illegal downloading/copying could get this site shut down. I would rather see them err on the side of caution.
Furthermore, most of the members here are against copyright infringment. -
Whatever happened to "innocent 'til proven guilty"?

Yes it does. Fairness according to the site rules. (As it should in every respect of human (and even other) interaction.)
So far, the use of P2P networks isn't prohibited by any rule, AFAIK.

The easiest way to answer a post like this is to simply not answer it at all.

That's a great solution, if you find it troubling you.
@ jds3 - As dl'ing if copyrighted material is a criminal offense in most places, and certainly here, be careful what you write. We like to keep this a clean place. Pirates might get their help somewhere else.
My guess is that 99% of all movies distributed by those platfoms metioned are pirated material, so many make the assumption that every question related to P2P is in fact a question about warez (according to this site's definition). I suggest you make sure no such suspicion might fall upon you.

mats, that should have been your first post
jds3,
1) there are plenty of P2P sites that would have that info and reviews that can help you. The forte of this site is video.
2) There are plenty of articles and guides about formats here. Do a little bit of research (to the left).
Short answer: mpg2 with 48k audio is DVD ready. Again, check for specifics to the left. -

I've already made up my mind.
It's warez.
But all I can do about it is sit back until the OP shoots himself in the foot. -

Granted... odd's may be high in this vast world of the internet...
But to say something is warez that does not even exist yet, as in he has not even DLed anything yet
Well hell!!!!!! i am heading to the big city 15 minutes away tomorrow, so if i get pulled over by the cops 1 mile/2 minutes from my home and tell them i am going to the big city when they ask where i am going.... i MUST be going to buy some crack!!!!!!!!

As far as I'm concerned, it's really no different than a thug walking up to you in front of a gas station and asking "you know where I can get some stuff?". While "STUFF" may be a wide open word, we all know what it really means. I doubt he's asking where to buy roses for his sick grandma.
If he was looking for "old free movies" (meaning public domain), it probably would have been part of the original question. Another way to answer this question, aside from ignoring it, would be to tell him "sure, lots of great public domain movies at archive.org and the loc.gov sites" and hopefully that'll drive home the point. If not, then they'll come back and shoot themselves in the foot.
While I think it's bad to jump on somebody when the facts are missing, I believe it's equally stupid to ignore the obvious and logical, especially if it requires using some sort of loophole.
mats second post addresses it fine.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Gentlemen/Ladies, we're all blatantly breaking the AUP here - It's called threadjacking.
Anyone who feels he/she has something further to say not relevant to the OP question (which I doubt anyone has/wants to have) - please start a separate thread for that.
