    Hi,
i have recently purchased the umax yamada chili mx305 dvd player. It plays regular disks fine, but it's supposed to play divx and xvid format too. I am currently experiencing that nearly all my movies and episodes are suffering from Lipsync. In the worst scenario nearly 5 seconds out! Is anyone aware of a workaround or a fix for this?

I used to rip the .avi files back to some sort of dvd format with software so i am no better off than before the new purchase.

Any ideas or suggestions grately recieved.

    Rgds

The problem likely isn't the player. The sync problem is usually in the file itself. Have you tried a different player to rule out that possibility?

Thanks for your reply. All the files play fine on the computer. I don't own another divx or xvid player.

Is there a big difference between divx and xvid formats?

    cheers

Just because a file plays fine on your computer doesn't mean it's going to play the same on your player. Are these files you created yourself? Rips? Captures? If captures was your AV sync locked durring the capturing process? Bad/dropped frames maybe? You can use VirtualDub to scan it for bad frames. Also check to see if the AV streams are the same length. Perhaps a simple offset could sync everything up? Is the whole clip the same amount out of sync or is it just in parts, or is it a progressively worsening sync problem?. Too many things that could be the cause of your problem. The more info you can supply the better your chances of somebody being able to help you solve it.

Hi, thank you very much for your suggestions it really is appreciated. The files are mainly episodes of lost etc in xvid format.

I dl the test cd as linked from this site. When playing the divx part of the test it appears to be fine at 300mhz but when playing at 400 it appears to go out of sync. I dont know if this is a red herring to my particular problem.

    cheers
