  1. I've just bought a batch of 4x white-top printables from SVP. They are supposed to be G04 dye and so far they work OK, touch wood.

On the hub ring it has NSP DVD-R4X in white, and a serial number beginning K3-05L194

Is there a way to identify the manufacturer?

  2. Well based on the media code that you pasted, the manufacturer is Ritek.

  3. Here's the media code from one of my old RITEKG04 discs. There is only one byte different from your media code, 6A vs 6C. I'm guesssing that this is a batch number and my disc is older than yours.

    Complete Media Code

My disc says Ritek right on the hub. Your disc may have been manufactured by Ritek for another vendor, or it may be a bootlegged ID. Hopefully somewhere here will recognize the "NSP ..." markings you described.

SVP is one of the best companies in the UK. When the website describes them as Ritek disks you can be pretty sure they are Riteks.

Don't get me wrong, these seem to be good discs and SVP's service is as good as ever. I've only burned a couple on a Pioneer 106 but they burn fine, play fine, and take cd marker pen ok. I'm just a bit surprised that G04 is still available.
