Hey guys, i'm just wondering what is the best video splitter out there, prefarably free one. I have tried a few like Easy Video Splitter, Avi Splitter,etc..most don't work properly. Either they can't split or the files they splitted cant be played. The files i wanna split are only common avi & mpeg, yet those program i tried just wont work, which made me kinda crazy. I'm not so sure if it's a codec problem here, because the codec checking program i used called GSpot said i got all the codecs neccesary. Please tell me what's wrong here guys? Is it because those free stuffs are useless or is it something else?

I'd say that all the "easy" programs you've tried are crap.

For AVIs, virtualdubmod. Use the segment info on the Save as AVI dialog to set either file-size or framecount to split on. Make sure you have both video and audio on Direct Strem Copy though. For MPEG, TMPGEnc's MPEG Tools section has a merge and cut feature. Might be worth looking into.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Actually, I was going to suggest VirtualDubMPEG2 to play with MPEG's.

That would be re-encoding. No good.
    If in doubt, Google it.

For splitting mpg, I'd use Womble mpeg vcr - not fre, but the only soft I've tried that wouldn't create audio sync issues galore.
