    Hi all...

I am trying to capture from my digital camcorder to my PC by using Windows Movie Maker.

In order to retain the best video quality, what's the best format?

(I have been tried the .avi format, and made DVD video of it. It didn't satisfy me).

    Thanks in advance.

    DV-AVI.
It's the same format as on the tape.

    QuEnc doesn't seem to work.

After run, I selected an avi file, selected output name and clicked "Encode"...

It placed an empty file onto my folder.

    Did I miss something?

    Thanks.

Hard to say if you missed anything as there are a great number of settings, but if it was set for 2 pass encoding then it will immediatly create an empty file that will remain empty until the second pass. The first pass analyzes the file to determine the best way to allocate the bits, the second pass actually encodes the video.
