  1. Could this be done easily with available video editors? Like the movies you watch with those red and blue lense glasses.

    How?

    Thanks

The process that uses red and blue lenses is known as anaglyph, and there are a number of programs that can process stills into 3d images. To get effective 3d you either need two cameras placed approx 6cm apart, that match in every other respect (focus, f-stop etc). Stills can be done from a single camera by taking the first shot, then shifting the position of the camera while keeping the focal point fixed, and taking the second. The software then does the rest to align the images and produce the output.

Can you fake it from a single DV camera ? I don't believe you will find anything that can do a convincing job.

Here is a pretty extensive list of software to have abrowse through -> http://medlem.spray.se/stereofotogruppen/docs/012_Download_Edit.html

It covers anaglyph images, LCD glasses etc.

Let me know if you find anything that works. I have used anabuilder to create stills that have been very good and a lot of fun (my kids love them) but video seems a lot harder to do. Pity, because Creature From The Black Lagoon is a favourite of mine, so I'd love to play.

I suggest you read up on the Pulfrich Effect. It uses a combination of motion and color to produce a 3D illusion. Best of all you don't need glasses to view the images normally.
