I use a Pinnacle DC10+ card to capture to a dedicated 30gig drive and use TMPGenc to encode. I have only found version 12b of TMPGenc to read the dedicated MJPEG codec. Have any other users encountered this problem? Have you gotten other versions to work? How? I would continue using 12b, but I upgraded my OS from Win98 1st ed. to Win98SE and now TMPGenc 12b locks up constantly for no rhyme or reason. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd most appreciate it. I have an AMD K6 2/350 w/ 168mb RAM and all the latest drivers, etc. if this helps. I also, did a fresh install w/ SE and formatted both drives.

Well, you use 12a, I use 12b, so why won't later versions work with the codec?

Under options/environmental setting/VFAPI plugin, you need to change the priority of the Avi VFW compatibility Reader to 1.

    d,
Thanks for the advise, but how do I change the priority in TMPGenc? I went there, but I can't figure out how to do it.

  6. That is interesting...I started with 12b, and I also couldn't get later versions to work for me. I thought I was missing a plug-in or something. I just use 12b for my captured AVIs and 12f for mpgs to mpgs. I guess this isn't an isolated incident. I'll try that priority thingie.

  7. Hey! It worked! Yay!
    thank you, disturbed1

The settings from my two versions were the same initially though.

I use 98SE with no problems from 12b. I'm not sure what your proggies' problem is.
But, it's under options-->Environmental settings. Highlight the description and right click. choose higher priority. Be careful, though, you'll have to do it a few times and it moves around.

Thanks, mijman. That worked great, unfortunately, I am at work, so I am just testing it on the software. When I get home, I will try it with my DC10 card. I hope the newer version of TMPGenc solves the problem. The computer ran fine before, now I can barely get through one render without a lockup.
