Any ever hear of this happening: We have Dish Network and whenever we use the microwave or the toaster oven (two seperate appliances) the program on channels 2-7 cut out completely.
Some other channels are effected too. Their signal drops in and out but does not go completely out.
If it was just the microwave causing the problem I could understand it, figuring that somehow it is affecting the antenna, but the toaster oven?
The antenna is situation in the middle of the house and off to the left side. The tv is a little forward of the middle and on the right side of the house and the kitchen is at the rear right of the house.
So any guesses? Old electric lines? Poor grounding? Poltergeist? Dish Network messing with me??

My best guess is the wiring. The nuke oven and the toaster oven each draw alot of current. There could be a few faults that I would check for. Over loaded circuits. bad grounds and bad neautrals. The power company is not perfect either, there are often spikes and dips from them, but if you have associated the problem with high power consumption items in your house, you have half solved the problem. As for the other half, well that kind of depends on what you find out after checking your wiring. It could be that your satellite box is just too sensitive for a normal range of power fluxuations(SP)
My fear is that if you are asking here, then you might not be the best choice for the one to do the trouble shooting and repairs. No offence please, but if you are not comfortable with or educated enough on the subject it may be time to call in a pro.
A quick, not to dangerous, fix may be as simple as plugging one of the components into a different place in the house. That is try to get your satellite and ovens on different legs of the power.
Be careful and good luckIS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT? -
I have FTA DVB, and occassionally, turning on an appliance that is on the same circuit can cause breakup.
I would start by plugging these appliances into a dfferent circuit to see if the problem persists, as Zapper suggests.
You also need to remember that Digital TV is a data stream, much like a DVD. Scratch a DVD enough to affect the error correction and you get image break up. Power disruptions can have the same affect on DVBRead my blog here.
