I'll go ahead and assume it's a DVD video.

    Try Vob2mpeg.

  4. I am using vob2mpeg. it works well, my only complaint is filesize. I have a 30 min DVD, and it took about 2GB to convert to mpeg2. is this normal, can it be minimized? how do i get to mpeg4 which should take less space.

VOB2MPG simply extracts the original MPEG-2 file from the VOB, so your original bitrates must combine to about 9000kbps or thereabouts. It's not the fault of VOB2MPG that the filesize is so high - the original DVD was encoded this way.

The Guides and Tools sections to your left should help you find the info you require to convert to MPEG-4. My recommendation would be AutoGK and the XviD codec.
    If in doubt, Google it.
