what is your source? avi can be a lot of different video formats. use gspot, avicodec to identify. or does it happen with all avis?
what tools have you tried? list all
    are you converting to dvd?

You haven't told us much, if anything, as Baldrick have pointed out.

What codec does AVI use? Use GSpot / AVICodec / VideoInspector to determine that.

Then, what are you trying to convert TO? What's the eventual destination?

Didn't give us much to work with, did you?

ive tried using,svcd2dvd ,which comes up with ffmpeg error ,also ive tried winavi, which starts off ok and does about 1-2% and says find a nav file mismatched, dvd creator maybe cannot run length =1,item =0
also divx 2dvd vso which again starts off ok does about 15 seconds converting then freezes ,and a few more all same results
ive setup loads of codecs and loads of proggys on my pc ,could that have anything to do with it .i thought of formating and just putting 2 converters on winavi and svcd2dvd wat u think thx

all i want is a dvd i can play on my standalone dvd player
either ts or vob files ,iso anything that will work

Again, what is it you're trying to convert to DVD? No problem is ever solved by running in every direction imaginable at once. "loads of codecs" and "loads of proggys" is a good start to failure...

ive tried using,svcd2dvd ,which comes up with ffmpeg error
    And the error is?

,also ive tried winavi, which starts off ok and does about 1-2% and says find a nav file mismatched
Does it say MORE than that?

,dvd creator maybe cannot run length =1,item =0
Maybe cannot run? What the heck is that?

also divx 2dvd vso which again starts off ok does about 15 seconds converting then freezes ,and a few more all same results
Freezes... How long did you wait? Conversion usually takes hours.

ive setup loads of codecs and loads of proggys on my pc ,could that have anything to do with it
A shotgun approach is more likely to mess up your PC than to produce a solution.

.i thought of formating and just putting 2 converters on winavi and svcd2dvd wat u think thx
I would suggest you make sure all your videos are PLAYABLE with no errors first. Tell us WHAT format they're in, what codec, and what do you have to work with, and what is your eventual target. THEN we'll probably be able to suggest something.

So far the only sense we got was "OMG! I've tried f***ing Everything! NOTHING works! WTF!?"

  10. OK, several people have suggested things to do to help you out. So instead of posting that long Nero logfle in here, why not try listening to them?
First you need to tell us information about your problem file, such as which
codec it needs, is it PAL or NTSC, etc. To DO that you need to install one of the codec identifiers that one of the earlier posters pointed out to you (GSpot, etc), load the file into it, & report back what it shows. If you aren't willing to do that , then please do not bother to complain any more in here.
Also be prepared to uninstall most of the codec packs you say you have, since that is more likely than not the cause of your problem.

From here on out, it is up to you...

Frankly, all that log says is "I crashed while converting something"

256 MB is a little on the lean side, but it shouldn't cause a crash like this.
