Did you ever purchase something (goods or services) that just makes you feel like a dumb ass? Like the image of your person is replaced with a ridiculous looking jack-ass similar to those old WB cartoons, and that everyone around you knows that you are jack ass for purchasing the good or services but you were too stupid to listen?

My most recent purchase: NEXTEL. Let me tell you folks, don't ever deal with this company. I've seen state homes for the mentally handicapped that could run rings around these people when it comes to customer service and intelligence (not that the mentally handicapped are involved in customer service or could not be involved in customer service for that matter. In fact, they make great Wal-Mart greeters.)

Without going into a whole deal, I purchased Nextel service in October... I cancelled in December.

I have never seen a business that tries to hard to deceive its customers as much as cell phone providers. The bills are usually just about unintelligible (could they come up with another fee?) and never match what the plan costs as advertised. The customer service reps know very little or nothing about their own product (3 separate customer service reps told me that it would be $200.00 to cancel my service early. When I finally transferred to the cancellation department, they informed me it was $200.00 per phone.).

Damn!! I'm so pissed off... I can't even think what to write.

Any purchases you made that you wish you could take back?

I bought the Ab shocker from that infomercial. It shocks your abs to make them contract. Its supposed to work the muscles but of course it doesn't. It just shocks the hell out of you and leaves you with this jelly crap all over your stomach. All of my friends gave me crap for buying that.

  3. I almost did one of those, bidding on ebay.
Price started at 99¢, so I bid $1.99.
After reading VERY carefully, I found the shipping charge was $49 for a $49 retail item at multiple stores.
Some dumb jackass bid $16 US, and won the auction! paying $65 for a $49 goodie at bestbuy.

@ smearbrick1. I feel your pain. I am a CS specialist with one of Nextel's competitors, and you have no idea how many new customer's I sign up, with the same complaints about Nextel you have

  4. phones4u here in the UK aren't exactly brilliant, either. Although they are fairly clear on charges, their customer service needs a lot of work. I am extremely annoyed at them for their incompetence and rudeness on more than one occasion.

    Avoid phones4u.

  5. I have list of companies that I no longer do business with. Local and national. Wankers.

  6. UKDVDR are another lot who ripped me off. They falsely advertised some media as being MCC, but when I got it it was CMC and simply wouldn't work proerly. After a couple of e-mails they accepted the return and issued a number - fair enough. However, I waited for about a month (as I recall) for a refund. Eventually, I had to fight them for it. They'd taken the media back and refunded only part of what they owed me. I'd actually asked for all postage costs to be refunded as they'd falsely advertised these discs.

Well, after several e-mails and phone calls I spoke to a "manager" who checked it out and issued the last refund. He got it wrong, and they still owe me £9-something. I never followed it up - I'd spend more in phone calls than I would get back.

I made Trading Standards aware of them, and they are being watched.

As well as that, you'd be lucky if they even reply to e-mails or pick up the phone. Many times, I would call them and it would ring until BT timed out. As soon as I redialled, it was engaged. They seem to have only one phone line and think that their phone calls are more important than a customer.

UKDVDR will rip you off. Don't buy from them!

Try www.svp.co.uk instead. They seem to be OK, although last time I paid for first-class delivery and they still put it through as second-class. Never spoke to them about that, but it is a small thing. Their customer support seems to be decent enough, and they also don't seem to lie about their media.

Mine would be for signing with Tiscali Broadband. Their offer was for UNLIMITED usage. However (as my connection is neetworked to 5 PCs), I received a letter satting that I had exceeded 30GB per month combined upload and download usage stating it was in their terms and condition and they would threaten to cancel my contract.

If so, then how the hell can they advertise as UNLIMITED, its a contradiction with their T&C and clearly mislreading. Worse still, they even capped my connection with P2P sites, where my average download was 1-2 KBs. I was so pissed off and decoded to cancel anyway. F**K Tiscali. Now im with Pipex and never had a problem so far.

Hell no, but we did play with it to see how much pain we could inflict on each other. The most painful spot, within reason, was the thigh area, which was actually one of the recommended places to use it. It hurt the most when you lost direct contact with the skin because then it shocks your skin instead of the muscle. Whenever someone came over to the house we got them to try it and we cranked it up to the highest setting in the middle of the cycle. Its hard to take it off that setting so they'd go crazy mashing the tiny buttons and ultimately just try to yank it off and that's when it really shocked the crap out of them. Good times, but hardly worth the $50 I paid for it. Came with a real nifty carrying case though.

Nextel bashing? I got lots of Nextel stories, and I aint even a customer!

I happened to be in a Nextel store, and had previously seen their customer service on several occasions and this time was no different. A guy comes in and says that his secretary was supposed to set up him comming in and picking up his new phone. It was a phone on a government contract deal for the county. So they jerk him around, tell him to wait, ignore him, ask him all kinds of stupid questions and show their ass in general. He goes out side to wait some more and I go out to take a smoke break. The guy was cool calm and collected and I felt for the dude. I said to the dude that you would think that a government contract would be a big deal to company and that he should be getting his ass kissed. He smiled and said that he was the county controller, he was appointed not elected, it is a lifetime job, and after the contract is up this year that they are going to loose like 1500 phones that all the county workers had! I smiled!

I could go on but atleast that one had a happy ending.

Verizon was too expensive, no reception where I live, and service people you talk to were rude.

For christmas I upgraded our family phones to the Black Razr phones. I go into the local Cingular agent at the mall and tell the girl I want to upgrade to the Black Razr. She doesn't have any Black ones, so she calls the local Cingular Store. They have 5 but do not want to sell them for upgrades, they are only wanting to sell them with new contracts.

So over to the Cingular Store I go. I get there, the chick working there is about as rude as rude can be. Tells me she doesn't have that phone, I said "alright", walk out and down the side walk a little bit and call the store and tell them I was wanting to switch to Cingular and would like to check out the Razr phone." She said "Great, we happen to have the Black & Silver Razrs in stock, how many lines were you going to start out with?" I said "3", she started going on and on about all the different types of packages and I walked back in the store. I got about 15 feet from her desk before she looked up and saw it was me she was talking to.

The look on her face was priceless but by now I've got the "you just F'd up" look on my face, she immediately starts apologizing, I demand to speak to the manager, she won't go get him, so I start getting loud and getting ready to create a huge scene (my wife leaves the store around this time) and out comes the manager. I told him the story and he said they didn't want to sell that phone for an upgrade but would in my case.

I told them to forget it, but they hadn't heard the last from me.

I went back to the nice girl at the mall, she found a few in a neighboring city and had someone drive them over to her, so I bought them from her.

At present time I have reported this particular cingular store to the BBB, I have made several calls to cingular and am in the process of working my way up the corporate ladder trying to find someone with some decision making power. I do not wish for her or their manager to be fired, but I do think I can get some free months of service out of it.

Nextel is not being very friendly about my issue. Their plan (I assume) is to just keep quoting "you signed a contract to pay $200.00 per phone". I'm sorry folks, I don't agree. To me, when a contract states "per unit" I think, "what is a unit?" Obviously it's not what I assumed it was. I assumed (because a unit is not defined as a handset or a phone). To me, a unit is the plan itself.
