  1. I'm trying to take a small segment from DVD and put in on my computer in mpeg format. This seems like it should be easy but I'm not sure which program to use.
I have Nero, TMGDVDauthoring, and TMGexpress.
    Thanks for any help.

  3. Thanks but I already did that before bothering you.
I used DVD authoring and it created a Volume 1 file with a video TS file that contatined VOB files. The guide said it would conver to mpeg.
That is why I sought help.

FWIW, generally want to 1st get access to the material, following guides on how to do that.

    2) want to extract a section of video. Again several guides, &/or recode will do it for you under authoring.

    3) want to extract the video from that, again following any of several guides, perhaps using something like pgcdemux or rejig or...

    4) now you have 1 video and 1 (+) audio files in mpeg2 & probably ac3 (for audio). Follow guides to turn them into whatever format you'd like.

  5. Use VOB2MPG to convert the VOB file to an MPEG file. Then use TMPGEnc's Merge&Cut tool (File -> MPEG Tools) to get the scene of interest.
