I am a complete beginner and want to burn some video episodes onto a dvd. Each episode is about 350,000 kb. I used ulead dvd movie factory 4.0 but it will only let me fit 2 episodes onto each 4.7gb dvd. Is there any way that i can increase the number of episodes that i can fit onto one dvd?

At VCD quality, 6-7 hours can be authored as DVD. What matters is source time, and what bitrate it's encoded at.

The source file size does NOT matter when are you converting to dvd. It is the total playing time that gives you the information how much you can store on a dvd. Around 4hour/dvdr with pretty good quality.

Check if you can lower the bitrate/lower the quality settings in ulead so you can fit more minutes/dvd.

Or use something else than ulead like divxtodvd or convert with separate encoders like tmpgenc, mainconcept.

Make sure you're using compressed audio (AC3 aka DolbyDigital, or MPEG1Layer2) instead of PCM, as that is what really soaks up the available space in the "EZ consumer" type authoring apps.

Thanks, i've downloaded TMPGEnc which allows me to lower the bit rate. The bit rate on each video episode is around 130 kbps. What level can i lower it to without damaging the quality of the video too much?

  6. 130 kbps? You are joking! How you determined it?
If it is 130 kbps for 350,000KB you should have around 5 hours per episode!!!

  7. In Movie Factory 4 press the Project Settings button near the bottom left. Then change the MPEG settings:
