    The main advantage is a better TV picture, the disadvantage is that it's presently expensive, at least compared to regular TV.

    Everything that is not HD will suddenly show all the flaws and look like crap. Most people forget that one. Only way around it is to get good filters that can remove overscan and remove noise.
