    is avisyth good?
    Yes
Edit: By the way, it's AviSynth

    what does it do?
    Edits video

what can i use it for?
    Editing Video

do i need it for virtualdub?
    No

    do it give better quality?
It gives excellent quality editing, but the end result depends on the source and what encoder you frameserve to.

and how can i use it in virtualdub without useing command line??
There is no command line with AviSynth. There is a text script that is invoked by the encoder or viewer.

Edit: These are very general questions. Is there a project that you want to do and you're wondering if AviSynth is the right tool for the job? Maybe you can explain what you want to accomplish and we can help you get there.

    I have a sugestion:

Why not start a "Cool Avisynth Scripts" thread where people can post some of their favorate Avisyth Scripts along with eplainations and/or samples of the results. Then people that don't use it much (like me) can get to learn how to use it.

I use it ocasionally to split fields, reverse, change speed and basic frameserve. I'm not interested in editing with it, but wouldn't mind learning the propper way to setup filters in the scripts.

I do most of my encoding with CCE so I use it to frameserve everything I encode. Also use it for transitions like fades, resizing, correcting audio sync, deinterlacing, switching frame rates, filtering, tweaking color, saturation & contrast levels, etc. It's also pretty good for doing your scene cuts & splices. Really not much you can't use it for actually. Pretty much everything VDub does without having to create/re-save another file that has to be fed into an encoder.

I've found that resizing and filtering is faster with AVISynth than filters applied in TMPGEnc, and MAYBE faster than VDub's filters as well, but can't guarantee it.

The problem with AVISynth is you don't have a before/after comparison that you can LOOK at and do on-the-fly adjustments. It's strictly a script-driven tool.

Open your sctipt in VDubMod. Hit Ctrl+E to open the script editor. Make your changes. Hit F5 to refresh the changes in the preview panes. Another helpful thing is to go ahead and make all your scene chops to remove parts you don't want and with the script editor open, hit Ctrl+I to import your cuts as framesets.

You can also play your Avisynth scripts in MediaPlayer Classic. If your system has enough balls, that is. If not it will lag and stutter as the filters and effects are applied in real time durring playback. But aside from the lagging & stuttering you may or may not experience, depending on your system, you can see your changes in real time just fine.

Here is a simple guide I put together.

    https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=225951

This guide shows how to edit in VirtualDubMod ... how to import the edits into your AviSynth script ... and how to apply the Convolution3D "video noise" filter which is the best all around filter IMHO.

Actually, you can frameserve from VDub, so you don't need to save that interim file.
