    Hello
first of all i've got to admit that my english is quite bad, cause i'm from germany, sorry for that.

I'm using VirtualDubMod to convert mkv-files with subtitels to avi-files (there are no subtitels in the avi file after conversion, but the language changes to the the language the subtitels had). I'm converting the files with this perfect tutorial https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=241422 and it works fine.

My problem is, that i have to convert about 280 files, and it is always the same procedure. This lasts quite long and i have to click all the time and sit in front of the computer.

Is there a way, to do this automatically? I found a thing called job control, but i don't know how to deal with that. Another thing i've found is a script called virtualdub.vbs. There i have to safe the processing settings and it adds them to all the files automatically, but i have no idea how to save the processing settings for this whole act i have to go trough to convert from mkv to avi.

Could anyone help me with that?

    thank you for your work
    Kim

It's actually pretty simple if you now how to do it.
You just open one file and make all the modifications you want to it. After that you go to File>Save Processing Settings and save your modifications. Every time after you have opened a file again, go to File>Load Processing Settings and load the settings you saved and process the file.

If you want to process several files after each other without having to start the processing manually (batch converting). Open you file, load the processing settings, then go to File>Save As and put a cross in "Don't run this job now, ....". Do this to as many files as you want and after the last one go to File>Job Control and press Start.

i tried it with that, but than i have the audio stream of the first file i converted also in the following files. It takes the srt and the wav from the first mkv file i have splitted and puts them in all files. So at the end i've got one file that is perfect and the other converted files have the wrong audio-stream.

    But thanks for the reply

Hmmm... In that case, you may have to split the MKV files yourself, I think. Split the Audio and SRT files out but keep the same name as the video. Then maybe the Batch function can deal with it?

Yes maybe there's really nothing that solves my problem, but i wonder nobody else seems to have the problem before. Because it takes forever to split nearly 300 files and put them together. Splitting takes the longest time, putting them together is just one click or two and it takes about a minute.

I was looking for another tool, that can deal with that, but nothing found yet.

Some sort of a batch command tool, I guess... But I can't think of anything offhand that can help you, sorry.

Use VdubMod's "process directory" option >via Job Control

    This should work

Yes, but VirtualDubMod doesn't know what to do with these files i added to the joblist. If i save the processing settings after converting one file from mkv to avi, it just saves the setting that it has to put the audiofile and the srt file into all other files in my jobcontrol and save it as avi. But, first of all it has to split all files in my jobcontrol and put the audiostream (the one that was just plitted from the mkv file) into the new avi file.

I don't know how to explain it any further, if you don't understand what i'm waffling i try to write it again.
