Need help recording purchased VHS tapes to Liteon LVW-1101HC

Question from a newbie. Just bought a LITEON LVW-1101HC1 DVD recorder. I want to copy some purchased VHS tapes to DVD for my kid's portable player. I keep getting a message "Protected Content" and it will not record. I assume because of copyright. I tried an old VCR--no help. Tried making a VHS copy and recording from that--no help. Any way to get around this? Do I need some kind of converter? Thanks in advance.

Thanks. Is this the best solution? I was hoping not to have to buy another box, but maybe this is the best way. I appreciate the info.

There may be cheaper devices but I know this one works since I own one myself.

There are many devices out there some work to a fashion some are just bummers. I know Iv'e been there

You have a liteon unit that is or may be a step in the right direction, I dont know if your unit can be hacked,

Hi Guys,

Facing same issues as posted here, I recently bought a hardware modified DVD recorder, the Liteon 5005x, with a built-in copy protection remover. I'm very happy with the purchase. Records premium channels or any commercial VHS to DVD.
