I am a newbie and had a problem with my Windows xp computer. (Could not shut down properly.) A service tech came and re-installed Windows. It took him about an hour (I watched him) and I realized that due to the complexity involved, I could never never re-install windows on my own. However, he installed a "ghost image" of windows on the g drive. The service tech said next time I have a problem, it would only take about 5 minutes to re-install windows form the ghost image. My question is, can somebody tell me (click by click instructions) how to re-install windows from the ghost image? Somebody said I need "boot disk" cd. Where do I get that? And then what do I do?

The best person to ask is the service tech.
I believe that what he did was use Norton Ghost, a commercially avalable utility, to create an image of your system drive. He stored that "ghost image" on your g: drive. If so, you would have to purchase your own copy of Ghost to restore the image.
When he said that it would only take 5 minutes next time, he probably meant that the next time you called him for service it would only take him 5 minutes to do the restore.
If you want to do the restore yourself you'll need to find out which version of Ghost the tech used. For instance, if he used Ghost Corporate Edition you will not likely be able to restore using Ghost Personal Edition boot CD. If he used a boot floppy to create the image it was probably Ghost 7.x or Ghost 8.x.
Of course, the tech may have used something like Acronis True Image and simply refered generically to the "ghost image". Once again, your best source of information is the service tech.

i use ghost with this guide-
http://ghost.radified.com/
don't know how good it is, but it works for me. easy to follow and has saved my but a couple of times.
for him to put a ghost image on your machine he needed to install the prog. if windows is still operational it will restore. if windows is out or the drive fails you need a bootable ghost floppy.
your post leads me to believe you are on a company pc with a corperate license. i agree, consult with your tech......
