Tmpgenc wont load avis

hi yesterday everything was working well and it was loading and converting all my avi files but today i tryed loading a few more and it gave me this msg: the file cannot open or unsupported i tryed reinstalling the program and reinstalled the divx codecs but still same error msg
its loading mpg but not avi
is there another program that i can try that will convert avi to mpg so i can put them into tmpgenc dvd author and author a dvd? is dvdsanta any good?

I wouldn't touch DV Santa or WinAVI or most of the other one-click-wondre programs. The only one I have installed is DivxtoDVD. It is fast, I have found it reliable, and I only use it for fast and dirty conversions. None of the OCWs will compare to tmpgenc for quality.
