  1. I used to have software but now I can't found the CD after formatting my HD.
Windows player doesn't give me any sound when I play the DVD's

Is there something quick and easy to download, install, and use?

I just signed up with Netflix and got 3 movies sitting here.

    Thanks.

  2. Thanks. It works- until the trial is up. Maybe by then I found my software disks.

I'm watching Wag The Dog. See how far behind the times I am?

VLC Media Player. Plays about any format. Has it's own codecs. Freeware. Even if you never use it for DVDs, it's a very good, versatile player.

If you are primarily watching DVDs, the aforementioned WinDVD, or PowerDVD are good players. But they are payware.

  4. If you had Video before and No Sound I would say you might have needed a AC3 Codec. I think when the winDVD trialm is over you can still use the Codec that came with it.

You are correct! I just tried the Windows Media player again and had sound this time.

After using WinDVD, the menu looks like what I had before. Perhaps I had an older version.

Thank you very much for your help and quick response.
