  1. Hi,

I've got a problem with mpeg2 and xvid codec. everytime i try to play it on various player; media player 10, classic, vlc or divx, it keeps skipping or stopping and starting in various parts. And if i rewind the part again it works fine, does anyone know what the problem is?

I have stopped everything running to test it out but still it still happens. I have disable firewall and anti virus and again it still happens please help...

  2. What codec does the video use? Is it an MPEG2 file or is it an XviD file? You can find out by opening it with GSpot - this will tell you all about the file.

k-lite isn't a codec, it's a codec pack. It could be the source of your problems. g-spot will tell you exactly what you require.

  5. We need to know what the video is exactly. You've said it could be either MPEG-2 or XviD (a form of MPEG-4).

If you put it to GSpot, you will see this kind of window:

We need to know exactly what it says the video is - in this example it is "H264/x264".

From there, people will be in a much better position to answer your question.
