Is the AKAI DVDRW120 DVD Recorder any good?

I did see this AKAI DVDRW120 DVD Recorder on E-bay...

It claimed to play PAL Discs in NTSC format.. and even record and incoming PAL signal as an NTSC format signal on the DVD-R.

But... Given the cheap price of the recorder.. I would suspect that the conversion may not be any good.

(I am looking for the "JVC DVD Player" Quality type of PAL to NTSC conversion. My JVC Player conversion actually looks BETTER than the coversion from my $800 Tenlab external converter!!!)

If this unit is "Not quite that good".. is there one that does this sort of conversion that looks REALLY GOOD.. (No Squishing the screen.. ect)

I thought that unit was actually a rebadgered Liteon 5001. Check details on that player in the recorders section of this site for what it can and cannot do.
