    This dvd player is suppose to play vcd but it will not does anyone know why??

    I presume you are using CD-R(W)'s and not commercial VCD's?

    If so your problem is that your DVD Player does not take CD-R's or CD-RW, even though the compatibility list says so. This is apparently because the information given was based on the Non-US Sharp 611 DVD Players.
