  1. Hello all, I'm looking for software that allows for a personalized introduction before the dvd itself plays after ripping that I can edit for instance, "Presented by the such and such family" with video and full 5.1 dolby digital surround sound. Something like the THX intro on some dvds but fully customizeable.
These guys charge $150.00. Pretty pricey I think.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I created mine with Ulead Cool 3D and Premiere. I made it about 3 years ago. It came out so good, that I still use it today.

Do you care that it be absolutely original? If not, make it yourself.

Use something like powerpoint to set up your display, save as gif, convert to mpeg using Ulead gif animator or other such progs.

Then author with dvdlab and drop in any audio you want. It will cut the audio's duration to match the video's.

If you don't have these programs, they offer free trials. Plus I'm sure there's a ton of other software that can do the same things.

A free alternative that can do an impressive job is Wax2. It will take quite some time to master it, but it can do very well. The best part is it's free.

Make one in Premiere. Use Photoshop and After Effects for assets.

  7. Other freeware for such purposes:
    - Avisynth (i.e. to overlay different clips from the below mentioned programs onto a background picture/clip with transparence)
-- The Avisynth script can be converted to mpeg with HC
    - Blufftitler (ok, that's not freeware, but you can use the demo and 'crop' the final clip to get rid of the 'demo' string)
    - Pov-ray (great free raytracer - a good introduction can be found here:
    http://www.f-lohmueller.de/pov_tut/pov__eng.htm )
    - The Gimp (the freeware 'replacement' for Photoshop)
