  1. I have a DVD that has my son's hockey game on it - with sound. It was recorded with a regular video camera, but there was a "game commentator" using a microphone. The copy I have is fine, but has no intro screen or anything, so I was hoping to "make it a little nicer" to keep as a souvenir ...

    DVD has 2 folders :

VIDEO_TS: contains VOB, IFO and BUP files

VIDEO_RM: contains DAT, IFO and BUP files

I have no idea how to take this and make a new DVD with a nice intro screen. Is it possible? I am not completely computer illiterate, but certainly am somewhat limited in my ability.

    Thanks for any help!

Use Mpeg video wizard dvd or tmpgenc dvd authoring works to reauthor the dvd with a intro, menu, etc.

Of you want to use free tools you can try vob2mpg on the dvd and then import the mpg in free authoring applications as dvdstyler or gui for dvd author(or if just one vob import it directly).

And I changed you thread title so it better describes your problem. You can edit it by click on the edit button.

PGCEdit's "Import First-Play (startup) clip" may do what you need.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Jim is "The Man" when it comes to this.
Create a tiny DVD of your intro....just like you were making a regular DVD....then follow Jim's advise.
I even have a recent thread on this subject as well.....not sure how long ago it was though.

  5. Any chance you can expand a bit more? I hate to play the girlie card, but I think I have to!

I downloaded the program Jim recommended, but the links to the guide are no longer enabled, so I can't get any info on how to work the program!!

    OK ... here goes !

Convert your intro clip to MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 and author it as if it were an entire DVD (so that you have it in IFO/VOB format).

    Open PGCEdit.

Go to File > Open DVD, and select your VIDEO_TS folder:

    Name: 2.jpg
Views: 450
Size: 28.0 KB

    Click Close.

    Name: 3.jpg
Views: 451
Size: 29.6 KB

Go to Title > Import First-Play (startup) Clip:

Name:	4.jpg

Size:	92.8 KB
ID:	237

Select "don't pause: it's an animated clip":

    Name: 5.jpg

Size: 43.0 KB

Select the VTS_01_0.IFO of your first-play clip:

Name:	6.jpg
Views:	448
Size:	38.5 KB
ID:	239

    Click "Copy VOBs":

    Name: 7.jpg

Size: 13.2 KB

Title 2 is now listed as "Startup clip":

Name:	8.jpg
Views:	228
Size:	102.9 KB
ID:	241

Go to File > Save DVD:

Name:	9.jpg
Views:	252
Size:	114.3 KB
ID:	242

    You should get the following:

    Name: 10.jpg
Views: 523
Size: 11.2 KB

Now you should be able to burn the VIDEO_TS folder in your favorite burning software.

If it is a dual layer, I recommend the following (probably OK to use for single layer too!) :

Go to File > Burn DVD / Create ISO:

Name:	11.jpg
Views:	276
Size:	114.7 KB
ID:	244

Tick "Burn ISO Image using IMGBurn":

Name:	13.jpg
Views:	352
Size:	79.4 KB
ID:	245

Choose the relevant options and click "OK".
