Did anyone else hear about this? The extended cut is advertised as having 20 mins of new footage edited back in, but its really just 7 mins of footage and ~13 mins of extra CREDITS! The DVD retails for about $10 more than the regular version too. What a ripoff. It does have bonus features and the first release is barebones, so plenty will feel they got their money's worth anyway but I feel sorry for the suckers who bought this movie twice just for the extra footage.

Thanks for saving me from buying 13 minutes of extra credits. This was actually on my want list, not anymore. It was the only one I had planned to get.

No way reboot the film is fantastic. The extended cut is just a bad joke.

Are you serious? My friend picked it up and said all the "new scenes were so cool". I'll have to throw this in his face and ask him how all those credits were. HA!

depends what's in those 7 minutes though ShelbyGT but that is a joke with the 13 minutes of extra credits

I also thought the Lion King 'Special Edition' was a bit of a con as it only had one slightly extended scene along with a singalong song or something. I can't remember exactly but there was certainly nothing Special about it

There's only one version of the Lion King ot so that's not a good comparison. I also wanted to buy the Sin City DVD until I saw that there was just 13 minutes of credits and 7 minutes of actual new footage.

yeah, it's not a good comparison but it's the same type of misleading of a potential customer. I mentioned the Lion King DVD as it makes out that there are 2 'versions' of the film with a clever cover description . The back of the cover starts out with "There is more to seen than has EVER been seen"..blah blah.....extensively restored and remastered with a new song, 'Morning report' and never-before-seen animation.

this is what I was talking about as the song is just another song stuck in somewhere and the never-before-seen animation is an extension of just one scene that doesn't last very long that you'd struggle to notice if you watched the movie, nothing much more

the cover could be quite misleading as the 2 versions part is absolute crap really once you see the part that's never-been-seen before along with the new song.

Why they even bothered to give you the option to play either version on the DVD menu is beyond me. They should have just dropped the 'old' theatrical version completely as the 'Special' version is PGC linked to every cell in the basic version apart from something like 2 new cells that have been added .

look at the DVD description here
    http://www.disney.co.uk/DisneyVideos/LionKing/home.html

In fact how can they claim for you to be able to enjoy the original theatrical release and then the remastered version when the complete theatrical version is within the remastered version using the same VOB's/ PGC's etc so it will be digitally the same apart from the 2 small new parts?

looks like complete misleading bullshit to me but I suppose it's clever marketing basically as it gets a few people to buy the DVD thinking they are missing out on something 'Special' compared to the movies

Saying it had 2 extended scenes would have been much more appropriate. Don't get me wrong it's still a great DVD for kids with all the extra features but the big fuss regarding 2 versions is laughable especially when you see how it was promoted on various websites also

didn't some Superbit DVD's raise questions one time?

p.s. WTF is up with the length of this reply?
