It's a scam that has been around for a while. DVDShrink is and has always been freeware.
Though it's a bit out of date for DVD decryption, DVDShrink is still a great program, IMO. I use the ImgBurn modified version, along with a modern DVD decrypter program. -
Thank You Smurf...and Noah. Does this mean I finally earn my "merit badge"?

The author has - it is called Nero Recode. Ahead grabbed him after DVD Shrink was popular to write Nero recode, which in the beginning was basically just a prettier version of Shrink - without the decrypter

There are tons of Internet scams popping up like bubbles.
All their AIM is to steal credit card details, and charge U$100+.
HOW TO FIGURE-OUT IT A SCAM OR NOT?
1) When ever you land on any web-page, go through the details provided on each link.
Most of the time single page website, or all web pages with same details, or hip-hop jumping through multiple domains (websites).
2) Go through the "Methods for Payment", Scammers always prefer payments through Credit Cards Only. No Other Options.
3) Also Click on "Contact Us" No Physical Address, No Telephone, No Fax just online fill-in type web submit form.
4) If you are smart enough, try searching more details on internet about The Company and look for Who Is data for a particular domain.
Scammers always prefer their domain registration and WebSite Administrative Contacts are through Private/Proxy.
For Example.
Registrant:
Domains by Proxy, Inc.
DomainsByProxy.com
Administrative Contact:
Private, Registration
Domains by Proxy, Inc.
DomainsByProxy.com
Further more, there are plenty of tools here, on Video Help which serve better purpose than commercials.
Why would any one prefer to buy anything on-line with credit card with a company called www.abc.com having no physical identity. -
I can't say I agree with you.
1. Third-party solutions for selling products are quite common. e-junkie.com, for example. Lots of reputable companies use third parties, including large corps like MainConcept.
2. It's an online business. Cash, checks, etc -- pain in the ass.
3. Junkmail and telemarketers are also a big pain in the ass. That info doesn't always need to be out there. You'll usually get it once you enter a transaction with the company.
4. Again ... junkmail, telemarketers and spam are a pain in the ass. The only people who truly need to know your contact info are the registries.
I think you're wearing a tinfoil hat here.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)
