I'm trying to use Ulead DVD Workshop 4 to author a DVD. I have 8 avi files that are about 300 meg each, and I want to compress them all onto one authored DVD, however this doesn't seem possible. When I add the video files it obviously tells me it will over fill the disc, and selecting the presets for LP doesnt help, and when I go to create the DVD files it says that it has tried to compress it to the most it can and it still wont shrink down so it can't continue.
Can anyone help? Is there a program better than this?

DVD Workshop 4? Or DVD MovieFactory 4?
Either way, are your source videos divx or xvid .avi's? If so, they will be re-encoded to mpeg-1 or mpeg-2 for dvd compliance -- doing so will up the bitrate -- so your space requirements will increase...George -
You are not just authoring a DVD, you are converting to dvd compliant mpeg first, although you may not realize it.
"8 - 300 MB avi's" is not very informative. How many minutes in total are you trying to get on a disk? What resolution are your source files? What type of compression are they? Not sure? Check 'em with gspot.
All-in-one program are not very flexible. Are you willing to try more advanced programs?"Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa
