I've installed QuickTime Alternative 1.65, which uses QuickTime Codec 7.0.3.50, and during playback of ALL videos, the sounds is 'shattered'.
Video is fine, but unwatchable because of the sound problem.
To best describe it, here is a sample of how a video sounds like:

(Sorry for the sound quality and the ambience noise)
The same happens with the official Quicktime.
Any clue?
