I have 2 dual layer DVD burners (NEC-3520A & Pioneer DVR-109). What are the best media (DVD-R) to use to burn dual layer? I will be using the Pioneer as the main writer and the NEC as a backup and want to burn avi files onto dual layer DVD-R to watch on my standalone player.

By the way, I live in Japan and foreign brands can be difficult to get sometimes. Thanks...

  2. Not sure what is in Japan. In the U.S. there are not that many available yet. Only Verbatim and RITEK are worth mentioning. See if you can get those. I would try Verbatim first.

I'll second verbatim. I use Verbatim discs almost exclusively because it's the cheapest and most prolific media available in my area.

Verbatim is Mitsubishi, right? Of course, that is a big name in Japan...

Usually Verbatim = Mitsubishi unless we're talking CD-R media, in which case Verbatim could = Mitsubishi, or Ritek, or Prodisc, or Moser Baer, or CMC

Taiyo Yuden now has Dual Layer media. These are manufactured in Japan so I assume that it is available there. It's hard to go wrong with Taiyo Yuden.
