I am really new to this so bear with me please. I have dowloaded a movie in the avi format and I have the software SmartSoft Vision Converter and converted it to MGG file with no problem. I then downloaded to Nero Vision Express 2 and played it in Nero Showtime and everything was fine. I had sound and video. I went to burn the DVD and it told me it was to big that it would only fit on a DVD-9. I went in to edit and I cut off the end of the movie and played it again in Nero Showtime and everything looked fine. I then burned it to a DVD+RW and played it on my DVD Player on TV. The picture was good put there was no audio. I had audio all the time up to the time I burned the DVD. I have burned to other Children's cartoon shows with no problem. I of course downloaded them mpg and did not have to convert. Can anyone tell me in easy language what possibly could be wrong.
    Thanks

May I suggest using some of the true and tried methods of AVI to DVD? VSO DivX2DVD seems to be highly regarded in this area.
Also, do some reading over in CONVERT, AVI to DVD left.

Does it play in your computer? I'm going to take a wild guess that you created a file with mpeg sound which will play in most DVD players. You mau have one of those few players that don't support it.

Let me preceed what I'm about to say with "this isn't intended to be harsh"

Firstly, some advice to do with the forum here - AVI is just a container, and does not really tell us much at all about your file. It could be using any number of codecs for either video and/or audio, which may or may not be relevant to your situation. It is suggested that you download an application like GSpot or AVICodec, follow the instructions here: https://www.videohelp.com/play.htm#identify , and then upload a screencap from either of these programs to accompany your post. This guide may help: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=271697 . We encourage you to provide as much information as possible in order to receive the exact advice you need in the quickest possible time.

Which leads me to a second issue - the forums themselves. Follow the Forum link in the menu to the left on the front page and you arrive at the forum index. Each forum has a number of topics called "stickys", which usually address some of the more frequently asked questions and they "stick" at the top of each forum so that they're the first thing you see when you browse an individual forum.

It pays to read as many stickys, guides, the FAQ and even threads you dig up using the forum search as a few of these will no doubt prove to be invaluable to you in your travels with video. It all ties in together with eventually using (perhaps) better software, and understanding the process involved instead of letting a program decide what's best for you.

    Now, as for your problem:

Can you play the burnt DVD+RW on your PC and get sound ?

Can you open one of the VOBs from the DVD+RW in the latest beta of Spot (2.52 AFAIK) and upload it here ?

Basically I'm interested in knowing the format of your audio.
    If in doubt, Google it.
