  1. i used to use dvd decrypter but they stopped updating it and it couldn't handle some of the protections of the newer dvs. any suggestions on what to use?

    freeware would be great.

    DVDFab Decrypter is free and is updated on a regular basis.
    Have yet to have ONE new release dvd that i could not back up alone using that or DVD Decrypter ALONE!!!!

    STILL.... NO ANYDVD!!!!!! 8)

    Yeah, The only bad thing about ANYDVD is it'll run you around $40.00. But the nice nice thing about it is it runs in the backround. So you can use any tool you like. The decrypting happens before it reaches the software you use to rip. So all the old tools your used to using should work fine without any problems. And even though it runs for $40. You get a lifetime of free updates.

    Personaly the tools I use are ANYDVD, CloneDVD, DVD Rebuilder, CCE for encoding.
    I've found that CloneDVD seems to give a much more reliable rip then say DVDShrink. I've had problems in the past with feeding DVD Rebuilder files ripped with DVDShrink, as well as DVD Decrypter. But eveytime I've ripped with CloneDVD it's worked perfect. So I just stick with it now.
