  1. A VCD has a CBR of 1150... would it benefit from doing 2-3 passes with CCE?

Since it's fixed, does it matter, would it help the final output?

I'd rather have a "as good as it can get" 1150 VCD vs. a one shot pass 1150 VCD.

    Thanks,

  2. Well, to answer my own question, doing a double (2) pass (with CCE) seems to look at little better, get rid of a few extra speckles... worth it, yeah why not...

Anyone else have an opinion on results? Am I just seeing what I want to see, or?

    Thanks,
    Troy

  3. I wasn't aware you could even do a multipass CBR with CCE or any other program. CBR means constant bitrate while multipass VBR's are done in order to made action scenes with a greater bitarte which increases the quality, meaning it devotes more of the entire video's bits to those scenes which need it. When using CBR the bitrate is set to a constant amount through the entire video.

  4. Smokey,

You just set the Min/Max/Average to the same bit rate.

  5. Ahhh, I see. But doesnt that defeat the purpose of using a VBR if the min and max are exactly the same.

  6. Smokinz,

Re-read the original post. I'm doing a CBR of 1150.

And to me it looks like a few extra specs are removed, thus a better final quality 1150 VCD.

But, like I said, am I just seeing things I want to see... or better said, not seeing things. ??

  7. CCE seems to look a bit better (a few more artifacts removed from an already good source), but now gives packet underflow propblems when Multiplexing with anything.

Should I try 2 pass with TMPGE?

I'm still trying to get the definitive answer on if it is really just a waste.. ??

    Thanks,
    Troy
