I want to backup a DVD. Using the computer to look at it , it has an empty Audio_TS folder and a Video_TS folder which contains the Normal
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS.VOB
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
and VTS_01_0.VOB to VTS_01_8.VOB
for a total of 7.7 GB.
I only have 4.7 G DVDs , so I used NERO Vision Express 3 "make your own video DVD" function to try to create backup DVD with only VTS_01_0.VOB to VTS_01_4.VOB and th input video files.
Nero takes the 4 VOB files as the input and created the DVD. However when I play it, it has no audio.
Does anyone know what I did wrong ?
How can I backup this 7.7GB DVD ?

Yes, you negelected the other files (IFO, BUP)
To backup the complete DVD, use DVD Shrink. Shrink the dvd from 7.7GB to 4.37GB and burn using Nero. -
Thanks waheed, I used DVDShrink and now I have a folder on my harddrive with a size of 4.35G containing a Audio_TS folder which is empty and a Video_TS folder with the movie.
Please execuse my ignorance, what should I do to burn it to the DVD.
When I used NERO Vision Express 3 "make your own video DVD" function to create the DVD with the content of Video_TS folder, it came back with an error saying that the resulting files are too big for the 4.7G DVD. It shows 5.1G.
Is that the right way to burn the DVDShrink created image onto the DVD using NERO ? Should I use some other NERO function or should I shrink the files further down using DVDShrink ? -
You can delete the folder and start over. Use shrink to iso and burn the iso with dvddecrypter. Then you shouldn't have a problem.

Hi jimmalenko, you said "All you need to do is burn it" Do you mean just burn the folders onto the DVD. Under Nero, in order to just to burn the folder, I have to use "make data DVD" option ( correct me if I am wrong) When I selected the Video_TS folder as inout to "make data DVD", I got a warming saying that the resulting DVD will not be playable in normal player, please use other Nero options. So I did not proceed.
Should I just ignore the warnning? This has always been my question
what is the different between a data DVD which contains the right Audio_TS and Video_TS folders versus a normal movie DVD we got from stores which also contains the Audio_TS and Video_TS folder. -
