  1. Just bought a Pioneer dv-343 player due to all the great reviews about how easy it was to set up, use, etc., but I can't get into the set up function - what am I doing wrong?

I have a three year old Samsung TV, with a yellow video jack and two white and red audio/video jacks. I've made all the right connections I believe. When I set my TV remote to respond to Video, the screen says: "Connect a/v jacks", even though I already have. (and have tried every kind of combination available).

Also when I choose Set up on my DVD remote, I can see the set up fields on my tv screen, but barely - the tracking is off so the words scroll around the screen and it shows up in black and white. I can only read it because I know what it should say due to my manual. No dvds or cd's can play.

Has anyone experienced this? Any advice please so that I can get this set up as a Christmas gift and not disappoint my husband?

    thanks...

  2. I have a Pioneer DV-343 also, and I love it. It's great for viewing VCD's. I'm not sure what to tell you on how to set up your TV to receive the video signal from the 343, but I would probably try hooking the DVD player up to a different TV, just to see if it was the TV or the DVD that is the problem. Also, double-check how to do the connections on pages 14,15,16 in your manual. All I can say is that mine works with the yellow video plug going out of the DVD player and into the yellow Video-1 plug on my TV, and I just press the TV/Video button on the TV remote to switch it over to video mode whenever I want to watch the DVD player. It is possible that the DVD could be messed up, but I'd try hooking it up to other TV's first.
