  1. Hi All,
I have registered the software fine and after a re-boot can add AVI files to encode. I can even change the menu button text etc. I haven't been able to get any further than this without the software hanging. (ie won't get focus or respond in any way)
I would expect it to be VERY sluggish when encoding but it just stops dead. Other windows remain 'workable' and I have to select 'close' from the task bar as the X won't work.
The only clue I have is that any .avi I select has a small '!' next to it when added to SVCD2DVD list.. what does it mean. I have tried the on-line help button but the link does not seem to work for me...
    Any ideas anyone?
PS. I have a much older desktop and have used SVCD2DVD on that for many years with no problems except the speed is not great...
    Many thanks Wicked_T

  2. Just as an update... I get 50% cpu used if I try and copy an asset to the vts layout window. SVCD2DVD then stops responding. I have left it for an hour or so but no change in the display and still no response from the program.
    So near yet so far...
The ! is displayed to the far left of the asset list, and seems to be displayed whatever avi etc I try. Even ones I have managed to encode on the old pc..
Can anyone help please? Thanks in advance Wicked_T

  3. Does the ! appear with a media player looking button? If so, that's normal and doesn't indicate an error, it's just an icon.

Can you attach your log file?

  4. I have tried moving the encoding directories to the C: drive (where the program is installed), but have no change. I don't even get a log file... it just hangs as soon as I add an asset. (I still get the media player icon with a '!' superimposed where the asset is listed at the botton of the screen)

I have tried re-installing twice but have the same problems.. Does anyone have any other ideas?
PS I am looking at the 'log' tab at the botton of the screen but once I add an asset, the program locks u and I cannot see what is under the log screen.

    Thanks in advance Wicked_T

  5. Hmmm. I assume the videos play in MPC? Have you tried reinstalling .NET?

  6. Thanks Jikchung,
The movies play OK and even converts OK on my old windows 2000 PC. I'm sure its just a setting that I've stuffed up in some way.I havent tried re-installing .net but it may be worth a go...
As soon as I add an asset the program freezes (but the machine is still running fine).
I'm running version 2.5 build 2.5.5030 on windows vista home premium.

How are you adding assets? Drag and Drop or via "Add Asset"?
    SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.

  8. Hi ChrissyBoy,
I have tried both methods, but the same thing happens.. as soon as they appear on the listing at the bottom, the program hangs. The PC doesn't but I just get a 'not responding' and 50% CPU shown (1 of the two cpus is flat out?). I have tried leaving it to see if it is just 'doing something' but after 5 or 6 hours it hasn't changed.
I have tried running the program as an administrator, and still the same results.
I had the program installed on a very old PC (Windows 2000) and it worked fine, but was an earlier version.

    Thanks for your help Wicked_T

Do you get the same with file types other than .avi? Is it the svcd2dvd.exe process in task manager which is flatlining one of the CPUs?

  10. Hi ChrissyBoy,
I have tried several different types of files (mpg and other avi's) and the result is the same. As soon as I add an asset the cpu flatlines. It is the svcd2dvd.exe process that hogs the cpu.. I don't even get to drag the asset to the vts layout. Any more ideas?

    Many thanks Wicked_T
