tv-out problem with nvidia Geforce2... stuck.

ok, got a boneheaded question:

can anyone tell me what to do in order to get my videos to play on TV?

Ive had to reformat my computer because my computer caught a whole wahck of virii... my multimedia whore became a dirty dirty girl, and I had to clean'r.
I had the setup before where I could watch videos both on my computers monitor and on my tv, and now.... well now I can see everything I do on my tv (cloned view), but when I select a video file to play it, I see the player, but no video, only a black blox.

I use an pretty old 32 bit nvidia Geforece 2 graphics card, and beyond that... dunno what to say.
I do have one thing to add that may help, may just throw others off who try to help me out....
I do recall I had an option, when I right click on a file, on the bottom, it would say "play on my tv".... though I cant for the life of me recall how or where I got it, IVe reinstalled everything I had....
