    I have a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR 250 (revision 3 Conexant CX23416
    chip) running on a w2k (service pack 4) PC based on a duron 1200.

    I rarelly use it and now I have a problem: It doesn't work.
    I re-installed the drivers, I followed the tips SHSPVR suggests, nothing.
    It installs OK but when I search for channels, it detects them and when finish it reboots my PC.
    Also, it doesn't show a picture from composite / s-video.

    Any ideas?

  2. What do you mean "It doesn't work"? Do you mean you get a black image and no sound in WinTV2000? Check this registry setting:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hauppauge\hcwTVWnd]
    "TV_Out_PlayLocal"=dword:00000001

    Make sure it's 1, not 0.

    Which version of the driver did you install? I had the same problem, till I installed this version:

    ftp://ftp.shspvr.com/download/wintv-pvr_250-350/base_cd/hcw2_2_22301_pp2.zip

    Then everything started working perfectly again.

    @ Forum Troll: I installed the latest drivers I found on shspvr.com.

    @junkmalle: Yes, exactly. I choose composite in and there is no video/ audio. And If I push "record" my PC freez!!!

    I'll try those suggestions when I'll return home

    No luck!

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hauppauge\hcwTVWnd]
    "TV_Out_PlayLocal"=dword:00000001 is "1"
    I installed hcw2_2_22301_pp2.zip

    Nothing.

    Any other ideas?

    Hi SatStorm well it could be any of number of thing like something that you install or uninstall or something else gone south on Win2K install but I wonder have try uninstall every thing and move the card to a diff PCI slot to see that help any.

  7. Does Hauppauge have a "cleanup" utility that uninstalls everything, removes all their registry settings, etc.?

    Well, I used the clean up utility, I manually unistall all the registry keys, I even unplugged the card to unistall and move it to other PCI!

    It simply refuse to work!!!!!

    I hope it is not a hardware fault of any kind, just a conflict (I believe there must be a wierd conflict on the decoders)

    I'll do my favorite thing in the world tomorrow: Format C : /

    I don't see any other solution....

    Yes, that's what I gonna do when I find some time out to test stuff....

    SHS, those programs you mention are excellent but I don't own them (neither I can use the demos they offer, my trial expired...). Unfortunatelly, for me, those programs are not an option right now (maybe after I format my PC and still have problems, I will try them again!)

    Yeah, its been awhile.

    You can also try ChrisTV and of course SnapStream's Beyond TV

  13. WinTVCap is a command line capture program that only saves the MPEG stream. It doesn't display the picture or play the audio so that eliminates all those possible sources of problems.

    I know all those programs.
    I believe that I have decoder conflicts on that PC. A clean install may help

    But those things requare what I don't have: Time....
