Does anyone know how to convert .m4a or mpeg4 files to a usable file for premiere pro 1.5
i get a error message when i try to import these files

Your best format for Premiere Pro is WAV.
How you get to this from .m4a or MPEG4 - that'll either be research on your part, or someone posting.
Search the forums, or check out the "Convert" link, to the left <---
P.S. You might want to edit the subject so that "permeir" reads as "premiere" - it'll help others when searching on "premiere"... As long as it isn't DRM'ed then it is basically just an mp4 file and there are numerous apps that can decode it to wav. faad, mplayer, dbpoweramp, foobar2k, etc.
