  1. Ok, I am having problems with my video & audio braking up into blocks and freezing during and only during the last 15 minutes of a 1 hour clip transfered from my DV camacorder.

The avi file plays perfectly after capturing. I then convert to MPG1 (VCD) format using TMPGE and the transfer completes and plays on my PC perfectly.

My problem happens here. I have used Nero and DVD movie factory with menus and both produce the same results. I am using WIN2k, with 256 memory, 700 pentium processor, and still have over 2.5 gig left on hard drive after importing the 13.6 gig avi file from DV camcorder. For some reason when playing the VCD on my pioneer 414 the menus and video plays perfectly all the way until the last 15 minutes which at that time the video/audio brakes up into blocks and freezes. I have tried several copies and even 2 different cdr burners.

    please help!

I had a same problem before, I was burning a big 791 mb VCD compliant mpeg file to a 700 mb CD, and I got the same problem you have. I reduced the file size a little, and the problem solved.

  3. How did you reduce the file size? A certain utility or just make two files to cover the 1 hour tape transfer? Thanks for the input!

  4. hagler,

First of all, did the last 15 min of the movie played perfectly on your computer? If so, like you suspected, then its your burning process that's causing the problem. What is the mpg size? How many MB is there. In VCD burning, 10MB = 1 min. Therefore, if your file is too big, and you never turn on the "overburn" option in Nero, that might be the cause for your last 15 min block and freeze.
