I have downloaded the demo version, and have looked through the last 5 or 6 pages here for some info, that I cannot find:

    1) There doesn't appear to be a "register" button/option or a nag screen. Do I need to uninstall the demo version if I choose to purchase the registered version, and then reinstall?

    2) Several of my avi files have two audio streams (french/english) that play simultaneously with WMP (as well in the preview pane of SCVD2DVD). Only with BSplayer was I able to choose the alternate (english) audio. Is there some function to mute/choose an audio stream to record on the DVD in the registered version that is unavailable in the demo version?

    3) I'm a little confused with the PAL/NTSC conversion options. I was planning to experiment with some RW DVD's to cut down on my coaster production. Does the asset panel show how the avi file is encoded, or does that represent what options I have chosen in settings?

    4) I experimented with autofit button, and it seems to not make any difference with the bit rate display on some of my avi files. Granted, they are only 1498 (or so, I don't remember the exact rate). Because of this lower bitrate, do I assume trying to autofit 5-6GB worth of avi's will have no effect on the output, since the panel that shows the bitrate never changes between full size and autofit?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Yes that is correct.

If your sources have 2 audio streams then you will have two selectable audio streams on the final DVD (i.e you can select either stream). If your avi has different audio on each channel of a single stream then not. (you will have to strip out the channel you don't want)

Asset panel shows the stream info for the asset you have loaded. If your asset is PAL and you have PAL->NTSC checked then it will convert the asset from PAL to NTSC for you as part of the processing.

AutoFit is used to deduce the best encoding bitrate for AVI files so that the files fit onto a DVDR. The size of your avi assets and the bitrate they are already encoded with make no difference here - it is the DURATION of the total AVI content that is important.

If you arrange your assets into the TitleSets you will see the DVD capacity indicator increase. Once done, if you click AutoFit the indicator will probably change - i.e the encoding bitrate for AVIs will now have been increased or decrease based on the duration of your AVI assets.

Hope that helps. If not i will explain further.

Wow-Thanks for the quick response. Further questions:

    2) So did I just not go far enough to get to a screen where I could choose the audio stream? Or are those options part of the "demultiplex/remultiplex" options that are disabled in the demo version? I stopped because I was getting both audio streams in the preview pane, and found no way to choose the stream at that point.

    4) So again, I assume I was not trying to compress this so much that it would affect the bitrate shown in the preview pane? Both avi files I experimented with totaled just under two hours.

Thanks again for your help and advice.

Do you have 2 audio streams? Does the entry in the asset window suggest 2 streams:

    SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.

Yes, there are 2 streams listedin the asset window. However, I first noticed the two streams listed to the right of the preview pane.

ETA: Are the audio streams listed to the right of the preview screen L/R of a particular stream, rather than each a different stream?

Each a different audio stream... thus when you process you should have a DVD with 2 audio streams which you can select independently of each other.
